Bilingualism at the Centre

Bilingualism at the Centre

Mae Canolfan Cymry Llundain yn ymroi i ddarparu gwasanaethau dwyieithog i’n haelodau, cwsmeriaid ac ymwelwyr, ble fo hynny yn ymarferol bosib. Rydym wrthi yn ceisio datblygu gwefan ddwyieithog. Ar hyn o bryd rydym yn defnyddio ‘Google Translate’ a deallwn  nad yw hyn bob amser yn cynhyrchu cyfieithiadau cywir. Ymddiheuriwn am hyn. Byddwch amyneddgar gyda ni os gwelwch yn dda!

Cofiwch y gallwch ysgrifennu atom yn y Ganolfan yn Gymraeg neu yn Saesneg.

The London Welsh Centre is committed to providing a bilingual service to our members, customers and visitors, where it is practically possible to do so. We are in the process of creating a bilingual website. At present, we are using ‘Google Translate’ and we appreciate that it does not always produce accurate translations. We apologise for this. Please be patient with us!

Remember you can write to us at the Centre in either English or Welsh.

Clebran

Clebran

‘Clebran’ is another of those wonderful Welsh words. It means to natter, to have a chat.

Are we suggesting women like to get together?
Are we suggesting women like to have a good gossip over a glass of wine?
Are we suggesting Welsh women in London should have their own place to do these things?

Too right we are!

Whatever your age, background or connection to Wales, we invite you to join ‘Clebran’, an informal social gathering at the London Welsh Centre bar.

We are not a wine bar, we are a bar that sells good wine in a cosy and friendly atmosphere. We’re a home from home where you can meet and socialise with like-minded women.

Great things can happen when Welsh women get together. Even greater things can happen when they get chatting.

Let us know what you think. Are you interested in joining ‘Clebran’?

Welsh Guards Appeal Fund

Welsh Guards Appeal Fund

Welsh Guards Band Afghanistan Appeal Fund release date 19/03/12 – Amazon iTunes & HMV Wales

The Appeal Fund was launched in the summer of 2009 at a time when the Battalion were experiencing significant challenges in Afghanistan. By the end of this tour of duty, the Battalion had lost seven members killed in action, including their Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Robert Thorneloe MBE. In addition, a large number of casualties were sustained, many of whom received life-changing injuries. Only just recently, Lance Sergeant Dan Collins sadly succumbed to the consequence of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) from his experience on the 2009 Tour.

The 1st Battalion Welsh Guards are now deployed again in Afghanistan for another six month tour of duty, returning to the UK this autumn. Funds raised by the Appeal go towards helping the bereaved and injured in the Regiment; many tens of thousands of pounds have already been granted to help them. Your support would be very greatly appreciated (www.welshguardsappeal.com).

The Welsh Guards Afghanistan Appeal Fund are about to release a new CD featuring The Regimental Band of The Welsh Guards & Mark Llewelyn Evans. The 2 track CD also features the voices of  Llantrisant Male Choir & renowned Welsh actor, Richard Elfyn. Unlike most other releases for charity, this recording has been made possible with support from Welsh companies Go Compare, AB Acoustics, & Acapela Studio.

Everyone on the tracks has given their time for free: whether arrangers, CD design and photography, sound engineers, mastering engineers, producer Nick Patrick, Llantriasnt Male Voice Choir, Richard Elfyn & Mark Llewelyn Evans. This ensures that every penny from the sale will go towards the Appeal Fund and help those soldiers & their families who require help have a safe and secure future whatever their needs may be.

Jacks enjoy weekend in London

Jacks enjoy weekend in London

The night featured an open Q+A with Wales Manager (and Swans legend) Chris Coleman, Swansea City manager Brendan Rodgers, Swansea City Chairman Huw Jenkins, and  Swansea City Supporters Trust Director Huw Cooze.

Many members of the audience were going to Craven Cottage on Saturday – and would have witnessed an emphatic 3-0 victory for the Swans.
